Once upon a time there lived a fan. This fan was a happy fan because it lived in a room where it could help cool down hot sweaty children after they came in from playing outside
But one day the fan noticed that there were some people working on the outside of the building in which it lived and worked...the fan was curious....just what were they doing?
Day after day, as the fan rotated it's head, it stared out the window looking toward where all the excitment was taking place. Then one morning as the children came in the fan heard that the object on the wall was called Air Conditioner and that AC as it 's name  was shortened to did the same work as Fan.
"How exciting," Fan thought, "now I will have a friend and we can talk each other as we keep the children cool!"  But as the days passed there was no interaction between Fan and AC and Fan became meloncoly
"I  wish I could go outside and visit AC," Fan grumbled.  After weeks of dwelling on how unfair it's life was, Fan dcided to have a pity-party. "Humph! If I can't talk to AC then I guess I'm not good enough!" And so Fan stopped working to protest the unfairness.
Now whenever the children came in they were no longer refreshed and cooled down...instead they began to whimper and complain and pick fights with each other, but none of this changed Fan's mind.
"See, " it reasoned, " even the children are unhappy."  Fan's strike didn't last long though....in about a week the adults took the fan and tossed it out into the dump. Shocked, Fan didn't know what to do, this was not how the plan was suppose to work out, and with tears in it's paddles it looked up and to it's joy there was AC! But as Fan opened it's mouth to speak, AC cut in.
"Hey, you that fan  use to be in the children's room?"  Fan swollowed. AC didn't seem so nice.
"It better not have been you cause that crazy fan, it just up an quit doing it's job an now,Me, I hav-ta work over time."  And then fan turned it's face away and cried, cause all it had wanted to do was speak to AC but, now all  Fan wanted was to be back inside, keeping the children happy. Just as Fan was loosing hope, a small child's voice broke through, like the sun on a rainy day.
"Look mommy! A Fan, just like I saw on tv, can I have it? And so, Fan was taken out of the dump and fixed up to work again. Now, having learned it's lesson, Fan now cools the little boy with all it's might for Fan realized that it had been given a second chance to to what it loved best .... keep kids cool.
